FISBO
The term FISBO or F.I.S.B.O. refers to the real estate term For
Sale By Owner, and is pronounced "Fizz-bo"
FISBO / fisbo is a property which for sale or already sold, without
the assistance of a real estate agent. It is also sometimes used
to refer to the seller of the property.
These private sale properties
can be found in classified ads, in specialist papers and magazines
or on FISBO web sites such as the smartvendor
fisbo site.
Private real estate sales used to account for only a very small
percentage of property sales, but with the continued rise of the
internet, and companies such as smartvendor offering good value
web listing and marketing tools
this percentage is rising almost daily.
The main draw of FISBO property sales has to be the ability to
save thousands on real estate commissions,
but many vendors also enjoy the satisfaction of selling their own
home. This can be especially true for the thousands of Australians
who choose to build there own home. Surely, if you can build your
own home, you can sell it?
